WALDEN — Three months after voting to take fluoride out of village water, the Village Board will consider a law Tuesday that reintroduces it.
Weeks after the April decision, which was prompted by concerns about worker safety and corrosive effects on the plant, local dentists asked the board to reconsider. The American Dental Association and the state Health Department support boosting naturally occurring fluoride levels in water as a public health measure.
Some residents say they don't want the additive back in the water, citing recent movements of medical professionals who call the practice outdated.
The board will consider the local law at its regular meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
