ABORIGINAL children are suffering from dental decay at more than twice the rate of non-indigenous children, caused by drinking volumes of sugary drinks, poor diets and a failure to brush their teeth, according to a University of Adelaide expert.
Lisa Jamieson, the head of the University of Adelaide's Indigenous Oral Health Unit, the nation's first, which opens today, said part of the blame could also be squared at parents, who often failed to brush their own teeth because they were suffering painful dental diseases.

Dr Jamieson said researchers and dental technicians had regularly taken boxes of tooth brushes to communities in a bid to encourage teeth brushing, but their efforts had often been rebuffed..............

Shows it isn't lack of fluoride
