Interview: Valdosta Water Treatment Plant

Interview with personnel at the water treatment plant in Valdosta, Georgia. This led to a discovery of environmental racism as officials declare THM's (trihalomethane) the most problematic substance to manage in the drinking water occurring predominantly on the south side of town. THM's are carcinogens produced from organic substances such as fecal matter. The city water is treated with chlorine and released from the water treatment plant on the north side of town. Only residual amounts of chlorine make it to the south side of Valdosta, thus the repeated levels of trihalomethane reported in the city drinking water primarily on the south side of Valdosta. Georgia. Questions were also asked in this interview concerning fluoride levels in the city drinking water. Due to the fact that Valdosta, Georgia is home to SAFT, a corporation that makes batteries, questions were also asked about Antinomy; a metal found in ground water caused by the production of batteries.

Poor sound quality but interesting.
