Ireland - Report prompts councils to call for public review of water fluoridation

Report prompts councils to call for public review of water fluoridation
Town councils in Cork have joined Kerry County Council in calling for a public review of water fluoridation in Ireland, following the publication of a new report.
In a 360-page report, Bandon-based environmental auditor Declan Waugh found that babies fed with formula mixed with fluoridated water were at particular risk. “No child under the age of three should be exposed to fluoride,” he said. “They don’t even have teeth.
The Risk Assessment of Water Fluoridation report says fluoride is a known risk factor in a series of health problems particularly prevalent in Ireland, including neurological and cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and skeletal muscular disorders.
Ireland is the only EU member state with a legislative policy to add fluoride to the water supply. “The incidence of these diseases in Ireland is far above the global average,” Mr Waugh added.

“Ireland has twice the global average of osteoporosis, one of the highest levels in the world of childhood epilepsy and certain type of cancers associated with the digestive tract, including cancer of the liver, kidney, stomach and intestinal cancer.”

Bandon and Kinsale town councils have agreed to ask the Minister for Health to review water fluoridation immediately.
Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan said last November that he “trusted the processes in place”.

USA - Memorial Day: Sunscreen propaganda heats up

Memorial Day: Sunscreen propaganda heats up
Jeffrey Phelps
...Even though more people have been pressured into using sunscreens than ever before, the incidence of skin cancer continues to rise. This is because the constant use of chemical-laden sunscreen is almost as ridiculous as the use of arsenic to whiten the skin or fluoride for better teeth. While they can have some positive effects, their side effects can be just as dangerous and even deadly.

According to the EWG's Skin Deep Sunscreens Report 2012, “Sunscreens can help reduce UV-related free radical damage by diverting the radiation from the skin, but the ingredients themselves can break down and release their own free radicals in the process.” This leaves the consumer gambling that the net effect of the sunscreen they have cooked on their skin for hours will hopefully be somewhere on the positive end of the spectrum. The same EWG report also says that “both nano-size zinc oxide and titanium dioxide from sunscreens react strongly with UV light and may damage skin cells.” And that “the UV filter Padimate O causes skin damage when it reacts with other compounds to form a mutagenic contaminant and causes a dramatic increase in DNA strand breaks compared to untreated skin.”

As if skin damage itself is not enough to send you looking for better options, the use of sunscreen also blocks the good effects of the sun. Vitamin D production is almost completely blocked by sunscreens..........

Fluoride Lowers Your IQ | A Debated Truth?

Fluoride Lowers Your IQ | A Debated Truth?
Mike Barrett
NaturalSociety
May 25, 2012
There is a great deal of controversy revolving around the addition of fluoride in many communities’ drinking water. While some individuals claim that fluoride is safe and even beneficial at low levels of ingestion, many others point to research showcasing fluorides many’s dangers. Among the dangers being voiced is the possible reduction in IQ upon fluoride consumption. Is it true that fluoride lowers your IQ? The research shows that this may indeed be one of many debated truths.
One study previously published in Environmental Health Perspectives, a publication of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, shows how fluoride exposure can lower children’s intelligence. For the study, 512 children from two Chinese villages aged 8-13 were studied and tested. Lead exposure and iodine deficiency were eliminated for possible reasons for reduced IQ. Children who had brain disease or a head injury were excluded as well.

What the researchers found was that about 28% of children in areas with low fluoride received higher scores, compared to only 8% in the area with “high” fluoride levels. In addition, 15% of the children in the city with high fluoride levels received scores indicating mental retardation, while 6% of children in the low-fluoride city possessed the same indication.

“In this study we found a significant dose-response relation between fluoride level in serum and children’s IQ…This is the 24th study that has found this association, but this study is stronger than the rest because the authors have controlled for key confounding variables and in addition to correlating lowered IQ with levels of fluoride in the water, the authors found a correlation between lowered IQ and fluoride levels in children’s blood. This brings us closer to a cause and effect relationship between fluoride exposure and brain damage in children. What is also striking is that the levels of the fluoride in the community where the lowered IQs were recorded were lower than the EPA’s so-called ‘safe’ drinking water standard for fluoride of 4 ppm and far too close for comfort to the levels used in artificial fluoridation programs (0.7 – 1.2 ppm),” says Paul Connett, Ph.D. and director of the Fluoride Action Network.

Interestingly, there are 23 other studies conducted around humans also indicating that fluoride lowers your IQ and an additional 100+ animal studies drawing similar conclusions. All of the studies collectively show how fluoride negatively impacts brain function, and and yet many individuals continue to attest to the substances safety.

The connection between fluoride and declining brain function undoubtedly makes up only a portion of why communities are attempting to end water fluoridation, mainstream news is acknowledging its negative effects, and even a number of professional dentists are speaking out against its use and distribution. Even ignoring the dangers of fluoride and how fluoride lowers your IQ, fluoride supplements have also been shown to have little benefit.

There are many reasons why someone would want to invest in a water filtration system to treat their water – the addition of fluoride in our water supplies is just one of them.

Canada - Churchill to stop fluoridating its water

Churchill town council unanimously voted to stop fluoridating its water supply in September.
The decision follows the outcome of an October plebiscite in that community, where a majority of eligible voters supported ending the program.
"This is awesome," said Mark Brackley, spokesman for Churchill No Fluoride, which spearheaded the stop-fluoridation movement.
"It’s been four years and four months but come September, the (fluoride tap) will be turned off."
Churchill CAO Albert Meijering said the fluoride treatment will end Sept. 15, adding the community delayed acting on the October plebiscite until an alternative fluoride treatment could be put in place.
Meijering said a fluoride rinse program will be offered at the local school in September, adding anyone wishing treatment can obtain it there.

Australia - Tooth decay spreads among young children

Tooth decay spreads among young children
ABC Premium News (Australia)
May 25, 2012
A national report into dental health has found rising levels of tooth decay among(fluoridated) Australian children.

The study by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare found almost half of six-year-olds have had tooth decay.
One of the authors Professor Kaye Roberts-Thomson says that is a significant increase since the mid-1990s, when levels of decay were at their lowest.
She says after dental habits improved in the 1970s and '80s, complacency is again creeping in.
"People these days are drinking less tap water. There's a whole lot of other options including bottled water which doesn't on the whole have much fluoride in it so people weren't drinking water," she said.
"I think the practice of cleaning children's teeth twice a day with toothpaste with fluoride in it is usual for most children but for a number of children it's not."

Echo - Hampshire Against Fluoridation to hold meeting

ANTI-fluoride campaigners are holding the AGM of their action group tomorrow.
Hampshire Against fluoridation, which has led the fight against plans to add the chemical to the tap water of 200,000 people in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Totton, Netley and Rownhams, is urging interested members of the public to hear about how its campaign is progressing.

The group has been a vocal and active opponent of South Central Strategic Health Authority's scheme to fluoridate water since before the decision was taken to approve it, in February 2010.
As reported, health bosses are currently working with Southern Water on the specifics of how to put fluoride in tap water, after last year defeating a High Court legal challenge aimed at having the controversial project ruled unlawful.

The SHA is hopeful fluoridation will be in place by next year, before it is disbanded as part of the Coalition Government's reforms of the NHS.

HAF members have continued to actively campaign against the scheme, and will be holding their annual general meeting at Central Baptist Church, Devonshire Road, Southampton, at 2pm.

UK - Extra dental places fill gap for Cumbrian patients

Extra dental places fill gap for Cumbrian patients
By Emily Parsons
Last updated at 12:29, Thursday, 24 May 2012
The long wait for an NHS dentist is over for many Cumbrians thanks to a major boost in capacity.
Residents who have waited months to see a dentist have been given the first opportunity to snap up the new places.
NHS Cumbria wrote to patients on the county’s Dental Database, informing them that it has “recently secured adequate capacity” across Cumbria.
Attached to the letter was a list of 21 dental practices countywide, including 12 in the north and west Cumbria regions. There is an additional practice in Maryport only accepting under-18 patients.
While priority is being given to those who have waited longest since having treatment, there is also a focus on getting as many children into routine NHS treatment as possible.
Anyone receiving a letter is warned though that each practice has a limited number of places and contact must be made and an appointment booked within two weeks of receipt of the letter.
Eric Rooney is a consultant in dental public health for NHS Cumbria. He said: “In Cumbria we’ve been working towards securing people on the dental database who’ve been waiting with an NHS dental place as quickly as possible for a number of years, investing in both new dental surgeries and additional dental places. Since we received the money in February we’ve send out letters to 8,600 people who had no access to NHS dentistry, offering them the chance to register for an NHS dental place in the county.

“But the best way people can look after their teeth and gums is by brushing regularly using a fluoride toothpaste as well as regular visits to the dentist.”

New figures by the NHS Information Centre reveal 4.3 million people in the north west now have access to an NHS dentist, thanks to an additional funding boost of £28m.
The extra investment sits alongside a dental public health campaign called Smile4life.

Australia - Anger over fluoride poll deferral

Anger over fluoride poll deferral
By Katya Quigley Despite the controversy, the Port Macquarie Hastings Council introduced fluoride to the local water supply in February. Now there is community anger following a decision to defer a community poll until after the local government elections in September.
Print page Email this Permalink ShareCritics say that a lack of consultation has been a big issue from the outset and that this decision is further indication that council does not listen to its community.

The Fluoride Action Network is still considering whether or not they will take legal action against council and say administrator Neil Porter has ignored the hundreds of letters that have been sent voicing concern about the introduction of fluoride.

But Neil Porter says that council is simply following the directives of NSW Health and has introduced fluoride in accordance with all the relevant legislation.

USA - Vallone Calls For An End To Fluoridation In NYC

Councilmember Peter Vallone Jr. was joined by students from P.S. 122 in Astoria on the steps of City Hall for the city’s first anti-fluoride rally.

A growing body of evidence reveals the harmful impact of ingesting fluoride in drinking water, including brittle bones and discolored teeth particularly for seniors, children and pregnant women.

On May 15 Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr. hosted the city’s first anti-fluoride rally and press conference, where he stood with a coalition of medical professionals, researchers and students on the steps of City Hall to call for the end of fluoride in the city’s drinking water.

He was joined by Dr. Yolanda Whyte, pediatrician from Atlanta; Director of Holistic Dentists in Tribeca Dr. Lewis Gross who also served as an assistant professor of Oral Pathology at Columbia University, Paul Beeber, a leading antifluoride advocate, Carol Kopf, longtime anti-fluoride advocate and founding member of the Fluoride Action Network and fifth grade students from P.S. 122 in Astoria who have spent the year studying fluoridation, and crafted the slogan, “no fluoridation without representation!”

To answer everyone’s first question, “Isn’t it good for your teeth?” most medical and scientific professionals agree that fluoride is beneficial when topically applied to teeth. However, it should not be ingested.

Last year, Vallone drafted legislation to ban the addition of fluoride from the city’s municipal water supply.

“This legislation will have an immediate and critical impact – the city will save between seven and 10 million dollars per year, and New Yorkers will no longer ingest a toxic chemical every time they take a sip of water, take a shower or wash a piece of fruit,” said Vallone. “While four out of five dentists may be enough to pick a gum, all should agree before we force-medicate the public.”

Most countries in Western Europe have stopped fluoridating, along with multiple municipalities in the U.S., including Suffolk and Nassau counties and Albany.

Fluoride is a toxic substance that accumulates in bones and tissues with only 50 percent of it being excreted. A 2008 study revealed that a third of children and 41 percent of 12 to 15 year olds have dental fluorosis, a disturbing indicator of chronic fluoride poisoning. This condition typically starts with dark stains on the teeth, but as it progresses they become pitted, brown and disfigured. In addition, medical experts are also very concerned about the non-visible signs throughout the body caused by fluoridation

Protesters Rally to Get Rid of Fluoride in Anchorage's Water Supply
Protesters rally outside Anchorage City Hall to commemorate the victims of a 1992 fluoride accident in Hooper Bay. The group's goal is to get rid of fluoride in Anchorage's water supply.

Protesters rally outside Anchorage City Hall to commemorate the victims of a 20-year-old fluoride accident in Hooper Bay.
In 1992, a large amount of fluoride leaked into the Hooper Bay water system and the water systems in surrounding communities. The incident left nearly 300 people sick.
Protesters outside City Hall say they're hoping to catch Mayor Dan Sullivan or the assembly's attention to hopefully get rid of fluoride in Anchorage's water supply.
"It's really unsafe to have this highly toxic compound put into our water supply," said Jason Agre, a fluoride protester. Agre says the only benefit of fluoride can be taken care of in a dentist trip, and argues that too much of it can be life threatening. The group says the Anchorage water system is poisoning its citizens and violating human rights.
Fluoride was removed from Juneau, Fairbanks and Palmer's water supply, however, it is still in Municipality of Anchorage's water supply....

Too much toothpaste (and mouthwash)?

Too much toothpaste?
May 22, 2012
Jamie Birch

Could the simple act of brushing our teeth be leading us down a path which undermines the aims of dental hygiene? We are all too aware of the dangers of antibiotic resistance when it comes to ‘superbugs’ such as MRSA in our hospitals. These super-resistant strains become more frequent due to the overuse of antibiotics, creating a situation where the few bacteria which happen to already be resistant suddenly become the majority.

Understanding this, why then can we be so liberal about bathing the bacteria in our mouth night and day with fluoride and triclosan, knowing full well the mounting difficulties we are facing in treating MRSA infections? Triclosan is a common antibiotic added to toothpastes, and fluoride. While it primarily prevents initiation and progression of tooth decay by enhancing tooth mineral structure, triclosan also happens to directly impede the metabolic functions of cariogenic (tooth decay-causing) microbes......

Fluoride and heart disease

Fluoride and heart disease
May 21st, 2012
Author: Economic Voice Staff
There has been an ongoing argument for many years as to whether fluoride should be introduced into the UK’s water supply as a matter of course to help prevent tooth decay, especially amongst the young.
Just last year the high court rejected a Southampton resident’s complaint with a ruling that fluoride could be added to the water in that region. But this seems to be a legal ruling, not a medical, one in that the health authority was not acting illegally.
Some argue that this is enforced medication, which flies in the face of individual choice, especially as you would have to filter it out yourself at your own cost if you did not want to drink fluoridated water.
But further there are claims that fluoride exposure creates many other health risks from lowering the IQ to dementia to increasing cancer rates.
Now though another study published in Nuclear Medicine Communications has found that the chemical may be linked with the hardening of arteries and associated heart disease.
All this may mean that we are in danger of treating one medical problem at the expense of creating more problems in other areas. In fact, when looking at fluoride as a cumulative poison, one wonders whether general fluoridation is such a good idea.
Then there are the claims that the fluoride put in water is not the same stuff that you find in your toothpaste tube, it is a hazardous industrial waste that is illegal to dump at sea.
But isn’t fluoridating water trying to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted? The people it is aimed at have already started to damage their teeth. And will it not lead people into a false sense of security? All along the lines of ‘I don’t need to clean my teeth regularly, floss or stop eating and drinking acidy food and beverages because my tap water (which I hardly ever drink) has fluoride in it’.
As the Dr Mercola piece points out:
“Prior to 1945 when communal water fluoridation took effect, fluoride was a known toxin. For example, a 1936 issue of the Journal of the American Dental Association stated that fluoride at the 1 ppm (part per million) concentration is as toxic as arsenic and lead. The Journal of the American Medical Association stated in their September 18, 1943 issue, that fluorides are general protoplasmic poisons that change the permeability of the cell membrane by certain enzymes. And, an editorial published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, October 1, 1944, stated:”

“Drinking water containing as little as 1.2 ppm fluoride will cause developmental disturbances. We cannot run the risk of producing such serious systemic disturbances. The potentialities for harm outweigh those for good.”
Doesn’t sound too good does it.
The Dr Mercola article is also very well worth a read as it points out the history behind why and how fluoride was pushed on the US population as explained in Christopher Bryson’s ‘The Fluoride Deception’; a strange mix of nuclear weapons, the aluminium manufacturing process and dental industry interests.

Take a bow for such a measured article pointing to the unintended effects of this mass intervention in the name of population health.
Whatever about increased cardiovascular risk, this crude treatment has a known and alarming dental risk too — just look at the damage to teeth visited upon teenagers in fluoridated Ireland –dental fluorosis is permanent damage to tooth enamel and can not be reversed only covered up at great expense.
Only two thirds of Irish 15 yr olds have normal tooth enamel, the other third are victims of fluoride over-exposure .
See http://www.irelandagainstfluoridation.org for the grim details.

Dear All,
We updated the website yesterday. There have been several extremely important developments on the fluoridation front that appear to have passed almost unnoticed by the rest of the anti-fluoridation community. So it's worth your while checking out the front page stories and reading the Commentaries linked to them.- it's not all doom and gloom, as many seem to think!

Fluoride IS a medicine and its use IS illegal. Doug 's work on the legal aspects of the use of fluoride to medicate the public has been reviewed in a major article in the journal Medical Law International by Dr David Shaw, Lecturer in Ethics in Dentistry at Glasgow University. This examines European Community and English law and concludes that, as Lord Jauncey ruled thirty years ago, fluoridated water is a medicine. Dr Shaw concludes that the continued use of water fluoridation relies entirely on 'the legal fiction that is it not a medicinal product' - exactly as Doug said over a decade ago.

This effectively challenges all existing and proposed future (South Central SHA take notice!) use of this illegal form of mass medication. Coming from a recognised expert in medical ethics from within a leading university School of Dentistry - just how much more amunition do you need to force the fluoridation fanatics to cease their criminal recommendation of this practice?

Fluoride may play a part in the epidemic of dementia. Alzheimer's Disease now affects around one person in five over the age of 80 years. A recent review of the relationship between aluminium and dementia concludes that Alzheimer's Disease is not simply 'associated' with aluminium, but is actually caused by it. A major source of this aluminium is the residual aluminium in virtually all treated municipal drinking water. Fluoride enhances aluminium uptake and transportation to the brain, so adding fluoride to supposedly 'safe' drinking water with even only traces of aluminium is the height of medical irresponsibility.

Doug has a long and intimate familiarity with the toxicity of aluminium, and has summarised the recent evidence. This is of such critical importance that the most serious medical implications of fluoridation must now no longer be be the prevalence of conditions such as dental fluorosis - dementia is a devastating condition, and is now an exploding health crisis, and it is predicted to triple within thirty years. Doug has indicated what must be done, so read his commentary and then take it to your local Council and demand that the use of both aluminium and fluoride in drinking water be stopped immediately.

(As if this were not enough, aluminium is also causing another equally severe health crisis - yes, really - and Doug has provided a summary of that as well. It really is time to sit up, take notice, and then take action - both of these devastating health epidemics affect all of us.)

Oshlack v Rous Water - the Australian case. The verdict in the judicial review of Rous Water's plan to start fluoridation has at last been released, and Oshlack's case has been rejected. However, there will now be an appeal to the Supreme Court on legal grounds - read our comments on how this case should now be conducted to ensure success.

Proposed fluoridation in Northern Ireland. Edwin Poots' potty idea to introduce fluoridation to the Six Counties has no legal authority, and we have told him so in no uncertain manner! Read our letter to him (but much more importantly, copied to real political heavyweights) and see how the wind blows across the Irish Sea.

It's all on our web site at www.ukcaf.org - have a good read, and pass the news on to your friends!.

According to the National Survey of Adult Oral Health over 95 per cent of people born before 1970 had some experience of dental decay, and 76 per cent among people in the generation, born 1970–90. Dental decay is also prevalent among Australian children. The Child Dental Health Surveys Australia found it affects more than half of all 6-year-old children.

USA - Tennessee dental health among nation's worst

Tennessee dental health among nation's worst
by Mariann Martin
Tennessee's dental health can be measured in so many ways:
Twenty percent of adults ages 18-64 have lost six or more teeth because of decay, infection or gum disease, twice the national median, according to a report by the Commonwealth Fund, a health care advocacy group.
Only 66 percent visited a dentist or dental clinic in 2010, according to a Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More than 53,000 visited a hospital emergency room for dental care in 2009, with about 24,000 of those visits for a preventable dental condition, according to a Pew Center study.
Alabama ranks even lower in most measurements than Tennessee. Georgia has better numbers but still ranks about 25th in the nation in many factors.

And the numbers are not just about teeth -- gum disease has been linked to heart and lung disease, diabetes and low-birth-weight babies. Tooth decay and infection cause pain, missed work and even death.
"Dental decay and infections cause all kinds of problems," said Stan Brock, founder of Knoxville-based Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps. "We are doing full-mouth extractions for people in their 20s. People don't understand the desperate need for dental care in this country."
Not one of the measures is good, and all are getting worse for Tennessee adults.
Between 2005 and 2009, the number of emergency room visits for preventable dental care increased by 7 percent, the Pew study found.
The number of people who had visited a dentist or dental clinic in the last year dropped nearly 10 percent from 2005 to 2010, and the number of people who lost at least one permanent tooth increased to nearly 55 percent of the population -- putting Tennessee's ranking at 47th in the nation, according to the behavioral risk survey.................

No wonder Tennessee is chucking out fluoridation, it doesn't work.

If you don't like being mandated to have Obama Care what do you think about being mandated to have Fluoride Care?
The Arkansas Legislature, at the very end of the last session, without any public notice, very quietly passed a law that mandates 34 water districts in Arkansas to add fluoride to drinking water. Do you know where this fluoride originates? China.

China makes it so cheaply that no one else can compete. Do you know why it is so cheap? The EPA lists Chinese fluoride as a byproduct of the Chinese phosphate fertilizer industry and the Chinese aluminum industry. They also list minerals in this fluoride.

Instead of thinking "fluoride" in my drinking water, try thinking "aluminum, lead and mercury" in my drinking water.

Do you know another reason it is so cheap? Because China does not have the consumer protection standards we have in this country. Do you want to rely on China to protect your health and the health of your children and grandchildren?

Officialdom says that when the aluminum, lead and mercury are dissolved in your drinking water the amounts are so small that they are not harmful. Think of your teenage son at football practice on a hot summer's day drinking a quart or more of water; how will his body react to this overdose of fluoride? We do not know.

Think of your aged parents drinking plenty of water; how will their aged bodies react to doses of aluminum, lead and mercury?

We do not know. What one person's body can tolerate can be harmful or fatal to another person. Adding fluoride to your water is like playing Russian Roulette with your health! .........

Fluoride battle to Court of Appeal
Sue Gardiner | 18th May 2012 6:55 AM
LISMORE anti-fluoride campaigner Al Oshlak has vowed to take his fight against the fluoridation of the Ballina, Lismore and Wardell water supply to the Supreme Court of Appeal.
The veteran campaigner has also pledged "not to pay a cent" of the estimated $300,000legal costs racked up by Rous Water and Ballina Shire Council that he was ordered to pay by the Land and Environment Court on Wednesday night.
The court dismissed an appeal brought by Mr Oshlak aimed at overturning approvals for fluoride to be added to water in the Lismore and Ballina council areas.
He had argued that Rous Water had wrongly believed, and told councillors, they could be legally liable for not approving the construction of the fluoride dosing plants after being instructed to do so by NSW Health.

Mr Oshlak, who argues that fluoride in even small amounts is dangerous, has urged supporters not to "panic" because he expects the appeal to be successful.

Lismore City Councillor David Yarnall, who crucially changed his vote at Rous' April 2010 meeting to approve fluoride, after he and other councillors were given written legal advice that they could be liable for fines of up to $500 a day until they approved it, maintained the process was a farce.

"The whole process where the health department forced Rous to vote for the dosing plants just makes a mockery of democracy," Cr Yarnall said....

The Department of Health and the HSE have agreed to conjointly establish an Advisory Board for a National Study of Total Fluoride Intake, Irish Medical Times reports.

It is proposed the Advisory Board will review the scientific literature, evidence of best practice and expert opinion on the most appropriate methods to determine total fluoride intake in a general population.

Revealing details of the agreement, Mary Keane, Regional Chief Environmental Health Officer, HSE South, said it was anticipated the Advisory Board would make recommendations to Hawkins House on the potential population health merits of such a review, the most scientifically-accepted and valid methods available for such a study, and its general design, including time scales, quality assurance, pilot study format, and ethical issues.

“It [the Body] may also consider additional research questions that might be investigated, with an explanation as to how it is envisaged that these might better inform population health decision-making and interventions,” Keane mentioned.

The Revolution Against Medical Tryanny with Dr. Joel Wallach

Your body cannot manufacture these Nutrients and they must be consumed every single day as food or by supplements.
If any one of these Essential Nutrients is missing from your diet for several week to several years it will be the cause of a variety of 1000 disease in your body.

Every American suffers from some measure of malnutrition because the Essential Nutrients your body needs is not found in the farmlands and artificially enhanced foods and can only be taken by supplements.
This is because intense farming by fertilizers leave the Ground empty of Essential Nutrients and artificial ingredients leave the food we eat empty of Vitamins and Minerals. For the past 100 years we have increased the beauty and yield of the food but it has no value in the body.

This massive empty food rush has led to the death of millions of Americas by a variety of diseases that stem from the lack of these 90 Essential Nutrients in your body. This has also created a dysfunctional health care system that feeds on the sick and dieing.

It is possible to offset or cure these diseases by massive supplementation and restrictions of foods in your diet every day for long periods of time. You also must consider your exposure to chemicals, BPA in plastics and water fluoridation. But you may see results anywhere from a few weeks to 90 days.

USA - No More Fluoride to be Added to Palisade Water

..Frank Watt, the Public Works director, said, "We asked the question, are we achieving our purpose of providing the safest drinking water possible? The addition of fluoride did not help us achieve that goal."
So from now on the town will not be adding fluoride to its water, something that many other cities do, like Grand Junction.
"The addition of fluoride doesn't make the water safer ... does not improve the quality of water. It has known health benefits, but it also has known hazards," Watt said.
Hazards can happen when there is too much fluoride in the water. The decision was also affected because of the safety of the operators.
Watt told NewsChannel 5, "It is highly acidic [fluoride], it can burn your skin, burn your eyes. There were safety concerns for our operators at the water plant, as well as the public."........

I wish we had people in charge like these, here in Southampton.

Dental Fluorosis, A presentation by NIFF

The DHSS in the UK have admitted that in the fluoridated areas of the UK, 48% of the population have dental fluorosis., they try to brush over this like it is not important, Fluorosis is just a symptom of fluoride poisoning, which causes many health problems. The skeletal system and soft tissues are also effected.

This video presents evidence of fluorosis in the Republic of Ireland. The North of Ireland is not fluoridated and so comparative studies could be done. The NI health Minister Edwin Poots has announced he wants to now fluoridate NI water, given the endemic problem suffered in the ROI with fluorosis, this is madness.

https://www.facebook.com/events/403915212975787/ We have organised a public meeting on 23 May @ 7pm, Community Spirit, 27-29 Castle Lane,Belfast BT1
Walter Graham will be speaking, Walter has campaigned North and South this many years, warning of the dangers of fluoride.

We will need all the support we can get to stop this going through, if you do nothing generations to come will pay for your apathy.

UK - Polishing up on mouth health to bring out glittering smiles

Polishing up on mouth health to bring out glittering smiles .
A CAMPAIGN will launch on May 20 to improve the nation's oral health.
National Smile Month 2012 is being supported by some of the country's best-known oral hygiene brands, including Oral-B, Lloyds Pharmacy and Listerine.

National Smile Month is launched every year because despite improvements over the past few decades, millions of people in the UK still have poor oral health.
Experts estimate that around a third of children starting school have tooth decay, and that three in ten adults suffer from dental pain.

It has also been estimated that around a quarter of adults do not brush their teeth twice a day, and the same amount have not visited a dentist in the past two years.
National Smile Month is organised annually by the UK-based charity, the British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF), and this year it is also promoting water-saving initiatives in partnership with Save Water Save Money, along with 19 water companies.
Simon Howell, director of campaigns and fundraising for the BDHF, said: "This year, we have received incredible interest in National Smile Month and would like to thank all of our sponsors for their educational grants and generous charitable support."

Do you know the signs of a healthy thyroid?

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 5:00 pm |
When all systems in your body are working well and you're feeling great, you tend to take your health for granted. However, taking your health for granted may cost you if you are not proactive about maintaining wellness. Your health should be considered an invaluable asset that makes a difference in every aspect of your life, from your work to the activities you enjoy to your self-esteem. When taking your good health for granted, you might not think that one tiny gland could throw off all of those things, but it really can.

The thyroid, a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the throat, regulates your metabolism, converting oxygen and calories into energy. It governs a host of your body's processes, functions and systems, from energy levels to body temperature, weight, mood, and more.

Imagine, then, what the consequences can be if your thyroid isn't functioning properly. It can wreak havoc on your heart, cholesterol levels, brain function, bones and joints - in addition to making it incredibly difficult to maintain or lose weight.

Unbalanced thyroid gland function can be caused by a number of factors, some of which are beyond your personal control, such as age, menopause, pregnancy or a family history of thyroid problems. However, there are some lifestyle factors that also affect the thyroid, like a diet high in MSG or bad fatty acids, an iodine deficiency or exposure to too much fluoride or chlorine in drinking water....
Pay close attention to your body and see if a combination of these symptoms of thyroid problems applies to you:

* Weight gain, even with lowered food intake
* Exhaustion
* Consistently cold hands and feet
* Brittle or thinning hair
* Dry, flaky skin
* High cholesterol
* Diminished libido
* Sluggish bowel function
* Difficulty sleeping
* Irritability

Bandon Town Council calls for full public review of fluoridation of Irish water

Bandon Town Council calls for full public review of fluoridation of Irish water
May 9, 2012 By Editor
MEMBERS of Bandon Town Council have passed a motion calling on Minister for Health Dr James O’Reilly to review the fluoridation of Irish water.
The move follows a presentation given to the council at its the April meeting by environmental scientist Declan Waugh.
Mr Waugh was asked to make the presentation by Labour councillor Gearoid Buckley who said, “I am pleased that councillors unanimously supported my motion calling for a full public review of the fluoridation of our water supply.
“Facts don’t lie and if the Minister grants our wish, the facts which Mr Waugh has highlighted will come to light, and I am confident the practice of poisoning our water supply will cease immediately,” he said.
Mr Waugh’s research includes a statement from the world’s top medical publication Harvards’ Department of Environmental Health’s, The Lancet Medical Journal, which states that fluoride is a Neurotoxin said Cllr Buckley.
“Furthermore the World Health Organisation (WHO) state that any country that introduce fluoridation should carry out a toxicity review.
“This toxicity report is very important, because the impact of fluoridation in Bandon and West Cork is very different to how the impact in other parts of the country.
“Cork by its geographical nature has significantly softer water, thus less calcium, and with the addition of fluoride, this calcium is reduced further.
“A toxicity report should be carried out immediately, as putting the same level of fluoride in all parts our country’s water is not in line with the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) recommendations,” he said.
Cllr Buckley said the EU have also advised governments to cease fluoridating water, yet Ireland is the only country who do not comply the recommendation.
“The seriousness of water fluoridation should not be underestimated, and I encourage everybody to read Mr Waugh’s extensive report and abreast themselves of the facts.”
The report can be downloaded from www.gearoidbuckley.ie.

Elected councillors have a duty of care
I WAS heartened to read the recent article on fluoride and that the Tory and Lib Dem councillors are opposed to it.
Labour group leader Richard Williams apparently voted in favour of it as he has seen "some potential benefits".
To be fair, he did say he would not push others to vote in favour but surely after all the many highly qualified people who have expressed their concerns about the dangers of fluoride, he might reconsider his views?
The view of the majority who vehemently oppose the compulsory mass medication (72 per cent) and the contamination of our water with industrial waste must be paramount.
For those who agree that something must be done to reduce tooth decay in children, I believe the modern diet and too much sugar in foodstuffs are responsible. Perhaps the Scottish system of school dental visits and the coating of teeth with a fluoride varnish, which I believe has been successful, might be the answer.
I recall a letter published in the Echo a year or so ago from a Mrs H Colverson who said: "Calcium fluoride occurs naturally and is good, whereas sodium fluoride is a waste product of the aluminium industry and is bad."
Guess which fluoride is being imposed upon us? Surely we are entitled to expect our elected councillors to assume a duty of care and reject it.

Indiana Town Discovers Fluoride is Made in China And Stops Using It - UNN Newsroom with Alex Ansary

UK - Daily Echo letter

Don't force fluoride
HOW can the current Labour leader of Southampton say that he wouldn't push fluoride on the public when he voted twice in its favour and also suggests a referendum?
By voting in favour and considering a referendum he is essentially saying that the public would have to swallow it if it went in favour of adding this chemical.
If members of my community are ill and have to take medication I am not expected to take it as well. Why is it some people have a problem with this concept?
My doctor assesses me on consultation to decide the correct medication and I CHOOSE whether I take it or not. Please, Councillor Williams, we are meant to be living in a democracy and it is every individual's right not to be medicated against their will.
Many coincidences have masked the truth about this insidious practice. If you care about your duty to the public look beneath the surface and find out the facts please! NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED.

Fluoride and children

USA - Childhood Tooth Decay On The Rise

Childhood Tooth Decay On The Rise
By Colorado Public News and Carol McKinley
.......Dental disease is the number one chronic health problem for American children - more common than hay fever and asthma, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Colorado mirrors the nation. The state’s latest health report card, compiled by The Colorado Health Foundation, indicates that parents in Colorado are often slacking when it comes to caring for their children’s teeth. Some 23 percent of Colorado kids didn’t go to the dentist for a preventative visit last year, ranking the state 38th in the nation.
Among uninsured families, only a third of 2- to 4-year-olds went to the dentist, the report card found.
By age 17, nearly 80 percent of Colorado kids have had at least one cavity. Nearly 10 percent have lost a tooth because it rotted out.
“This is not surprising,” says pediatric dentist Mark Koch. He has seen an alarming increase in the amount of cavities in young children. His worst case ever: a 4-year-old who lost all 20 of his teeth to decay. “They were so far gone, we couldn’t repair them.”
Koch adds that oral surgery is a serious proposition for preschoolers, as they almost always have to go under anesthesia. Children’s Hospital reports nearly 3,000 pediatric dental surgical cases last year, at a cost of $8,000 to $10,000 per child.....

Raising new concerns about the sugar and acidity in popular energy drinks.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Dentists in Indiana and across the country are raising new concerns about the sugar and acidity in popular energy drinks.
A new study published in the clinical journal of the Academy of General Dentistry found the acid in such drinks can start to destroy teeth after just five days.
"The acidity in these popular drinks is literally dissolving your enamel, and once the enamel is gone, it's gone forever," said Indianapolis dentist Dr. Diane Buyer. "You have a soft, fuzzy tooth. You add sugar to that, and you've got the perfect environment to create decay."
Energy drinks are popular among teens and young adults, but children are chugging them, too. Dentists said they're seeing a spike in kids with cavities who swig on the beverages.
Buyer uses a science experiment using an egg to show elementary students what an energy drink can do to their teeth.

"After 24 hours, the outside of the egg becomes soft and it actually peels away," she said. "Once you show them this stuff dissolves eggs, they put two and two together and say, 'Oh, this stuff is dissolving my teeth.'".............

ESCONDIDO: Some blame water fluoridation for March chemical spill

.........He said his best guess was that a crack developed in a tank wall and that pressure from liquid widened the crack and eventually ruptured the tank.
Because the tank was connected by an open pipe to a twin tank nearby, both tanks emptied.
In the future, McKinney said, the connecting-pipe problem would be eliminated, sharply reducing the risk of another spill.
He said a circular wall surrounding both tanks was designed to contain the contents of one full tank but not both, based on the assumption that both tanks wouldn't empty simultaneously.
But because they did empty at the same time, about 4,000 gallons of sodium hydroxide flowed over the containment wall and down the hill toward the Escondido Humane Society.......

Fluoride and cognitive dissonance

Fluoride and cognitive dissonance
Thursday, May 3, 2012
Letters to the Editor — Related Articles anApril 25, 2012
Reading the recent letter to the editor from Dr. Staples and Dr. Kanelos, "About Fluoride" (April 25), was like stepping into a cognitive dissonance machine. With all due respect to their training and skill as dental professionals, the overwhelming weight of evidence suggests that, in this matter, they are wrong.

Their claim that investing $1 in fluoridation saves $38 in dental costs is a commonly parroted point taken from a 2001 paper in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry by Griffin et al. The authors of that study inflated the benefits of water fluoridation, and they allowed for $18 per hour lost pay for time off work. But not all people lose pay when they visit a dentist. Further, the authors ignored the costs of side effects, such as dental fluorosis, which has reached epidemic proportions (a point recently recognized by the Centers for Disease Control — hence their recommendation to lower the amount of fluoride in drinking water and not give fluoridated water to infants). Cosmetic treatment for a single affected tooth can reach $1,000.

The other claim is even more egregious. Lacing water with fluoride is categorically not like fortifying milk with vitamin D, salt with iodine, or orange juice with calcium. Vitamin D, iodine, and calcium are nutrients required by the body. Fluoride is not. There is absolutely no human metabolic requirement for fluoride — and rightly so, because it is toxic even at very low doses. It is also a cumulative poison that builds up over time.

Belief in the efficacy of fluoride by dentists seems almost religious in nature, which no evidence to the contrary, no matter how well documented, seems able to change. But medicine is a scientific endeavor. Scientists are supposed to change their minds when presented with compelling evidence that contradicts their previously held beliefs. I, too, once believed that water fluoridation prevented cavities. But after a friend advised me to conduct my own research rather than accept uncritically the conventional wisdom, it didn't take long for me to see that the conventional wisdom is wrong.

When the rate of tooth decay in both fluoridated and unfluorinated populations is identical, it is simply not scientifically possible to conclude that fluoride prevents cavities. I don't know why this very salient fact is consistently ignored, other than it just doesn't jibe with a firmly held, almost religious belief in fluoride's magical powers. It is also not possible to tout the safety of water fluoridation when the compound used is hazardous waste from the phosphate fertilizer industry, for which absolutely no safety studies have been done.

The old adage about "follow the money" applies here, too. Eliminating water fluoridation would have a substantial negative monetary impact on several industries, especially the phosphate fertilizer industry, which would have to pay to dispose of its waste instead of making money by selling it. On the other hand, I don't have any money at stake. I'm just tired of hauling bottled water (which has its own problems) to avoid drinking something that I know is poisonous.

I must agree with Dr. Heller who, in his April 26 response to the Staples/Kanelos letter, suggested that dentists promoting fluoridation should do their due diligence and not simply parrot what they were told in dental school. I respectfully suggest Drs. Staples and Kanelos start with the meticulously researched book, The Fluoride Deception, by Christopher Bryson.

House of Lords

I've never seen a question asked about the significance of Jennifer Luke's discovery of the calcifying of the pineal gland in cadavers in fluoridated areas. Do they know?

Questions
Asked by Earl Baldwin of Bewdley

To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the Written Answer by Earl Howe on 27 February (WA 253), what are the findings they refer to which the researchers of the 2004 report of the Newcastle fluoride bioavailablility study found statistically significant.[HL16932]

1 May 2012 : Column WA449

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Earl Howe): The report concluded: "There was no statistically significant difference between artificially fluoridated and naturally fluoridated water, or between hard and soft water ... for plasma fluoride concentration following water ingestion in healthy young adults. Thus, within the limits imposed by the small number of subjects, this study found no evidence for any differences between the absorption of fluoride ingested in artificially fluoridated drinking-water, and in drinking-water in which the fluoride is present naturally, or between the absorption of fluoride from hard and soft waters, at fluoride concentrations close to 1 part per million".

Asked by Earl Baldwin of Bewdley

To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the Written Answer by Earl Howe on 27 February (WA 251-2), why in their view the evidence for dental fluorosis of aesthetic concern provided in section 7 of the York review (2000) that was obtained in part from a study by Hawley (1996) involving children from Manchester, showing a range between 7% and 21.5% of the population affected, does not provide "evidence to show that residents of areas receiving fluoridated water in England find dental fluorosis aesthetically unacceptable".[HL16933]

Earl Howe: Assessment of the aesthetic effects of dental fluorosis is complex, as demonstrated by the wide range of findings in the study quoted in the noble Earl's Question. This is one of the reasons why the department commissioned new research on the prevalence and severity of fluorosis, which should be available shortly. Teeth with fluorosis retain the protection provided by the fluoride and any aesthetically unacceptable effects can usually be treated by dental polishing.

Despite heckles and insults hurled by fluoride opponents, councillors decided to keep treating city water - something it has been doing since 1967.
Unhappy at being put on the hot seat, council voted to ask the province to take over the regulation of fluoride on a provincewide basis.
"There isn't anyone around this table who wants to hurt anyone," Mayor Joe Fontana assured the gallery, whose impassioned calls prompted him to have to stop speaking.
"Fluoride has helped low income Canadians with good dental health," Fontana said.
Coun. Matt Brown said he was satisfied fluoride was safe from a scientific standpoint.
"Political pressure alone shouldn't make us want to take it out," he said.
Coun. Denise Brown led the charge at council, saying studies show increased rates of broken bones from communities with fluoridated water.
"We have to listen to scientists, not people from London, but scientists doing research. We need to remove fluoride until it is proven safe," said Brown, who was followed by cheers from the packed gallery.
City staff gave a detailed, technical discussion on the chemistry of water quality and why the small amount of fluoride in city water does not pose a threat.
Health Canada did a "complete review" of the issue over three years and looked at current research.
It concluded that when added to water at a rate of 1.5 milligrams, it was not associated with any ill health effects. London adds about half of that, the city's manger of water quality said.

But Coun. Steve Orser dismissed Health Canada, saying he does not trust its work. "This is an easy one. Use the precautionary principle we use for pesticides and get the poison out of our lives," he said.

Ireland - Chief Medical Officer latest casualty of fluoridation spin

Chief Medical Officer latest casualty of fluoridation spin
By admin on April 27, 2012

The March 27th claim by Chief Medical Officer (‘CMO’) Dr Tony Holohan that fluoridation still makes a positive and safe contribution to oral health in Ireland ignores its rejection by the rest of Europe and the lack of any independent, critical scrutiny of the practice here.
Not only was the sole investigation of this crude dental policy by Micheal Martin’s Fluoridation Forum described as a whitewash by Green TD John Gormley but its main architect, Chief Dental Officer Dr Gerry Gavin, resigned a few months after it was published in late 2002 and he has not been replaced since.

Dr Holohan also ignores the recent EU scientific risk assessment that ‘people do not need to ingest fluoride for normal growth and development’ and that ‘there is no obvious advantage of water fluoridation compared with topically applied fluoride’.

For ten years normal European dental policy has been displaced by an obsession with defending fluoridation at all costs while the many Irish dentists opposing fluoridation are not even represented on the Irish Expert Body on Fluorides and Health. With its last minuted meeting dating from November 2010, why do both the health minister and the CMO rely on such a discredited body?

The many reasons why the rest of Europe stopped fluoridation were also investigated by the Joint Oireachtas Health Committee but its report was blocked by FF and PD members. To see its main conclusions, which are just as valid today as in 2007, the CMO should click here www.fluoridereport.com and then see how badly he has been misled.

Benefits of fluoride uncontestable, medical officer of health says.

Every citizen should have access to fluoridated water because the health benefits are uncontestable, Ontario’s chief medical officer of health says.

Arlene King said about 70 per cent of the province’s residents currently have access to a water supply that contains fluoride, and “that’s not good enough.”
Her comments, contained in a new report on oral health and stressed in an interview, are a not-so-subtle rebuke to the growing number of communities that are rethinking fluoridation as a cost-saving measure – chief among them the City of Toronto. There are also groups who oppose adding the chemical to water supplies.

Dr. King said there is an “irrefutable economic argument” in support of community-based water fluoridation. “The average lifetime cost per person to fluoridate is less than the cost of one dental filling,” she said. She also dismissed out of hand suggestions that fluoride poses a health risk.

The new report, Oral Health – More than Just Cavities, notes that dental caries – more commonly known as cavities – are the most prevalent chronic condition in humans, affecting 60 to 90 per cent of school-aged children and almost all adults.

They are caused by bacteria that colonize the tooth surface and produce acids that destroy the enamel. Cavities can lead to infection, pain, chewing problems and gastrointestinal disorders. Periodontal or gum disease is also caused by oral bacteria and has been linked to a number of serious health conditions, including heart disease.

“Oral health is about more than cavities and clean white teeth,” Dr. King said.

Much of her new report focuses on a lack of access to prevention and treatment of oral health problems, particularly for low-income families.

Unlike most European countries, Canada does not provide publicly insured dental care – unless a condition deteriorates to the point where surgery is required.

There are, however, a number of programs designed to provide dental care to low-income citizens in Ontario. They include the Children In Need of Dental Treatment program, which helps families without dental insurance who need emergency care; Healthy Smiles Ontario, a dental screening program for low-income children and youth; Ontario Works, the social assistance program, which includes dental care at no cost, and the Ontario Disability Support Program, which includes basic dental coverage.

Dr. King said this patchwork of programs needs to be “integrated and aligned” so that more services can be provided without additional cost. She placed particular emphasis on the needs of vulnerable populations such as seniors and aboriginal people.
