'The Girl Against Fluoride' on FirstOnline Radio 29 Aug 2012 (2/2)

http://thegirlagainstfluoride.com/ The Girl Against Fluoride is taking legal action against the Irish Government because of their continued water fluoridation policy.

The aim of this campaign is to raise sufficient public awareness about the dangers of water fluoridation and to gain support for the upcoming court case.

The aim of the court case is to insure that the Irish people have access
to clean, safe drinking water, and that no dangerous, untested chemicals can be
added to the water supply ever again.

Australia - Fluoridation plans to 'stay in place'

Fluoridation plans to 'stay in place'
The Member for Hinchinbrook says scrapping the previous government's plans to fluoridate all Queensland drinking water would be a waste of money.

A number of regional councils have recently attempted to resist the move but Andrew Cripps says unless it can be proved there are safety concerns around the introduction of fluoridated water, councils will have to abide by the legislation.

He says he is pleased the Hinchinbrook Shire Council has recently adopted the plan, despite opposition to the move by local residents.

"It would be a significant waste of money for the State Government to turn around and roll that back and that's why the current State Government is persisting with the program that was initiated under the previous government and the council has confirmed that with their decision to go ahead with fluoride for the Hinchinbrook Shire," he said.

"Unless a local council can demonstrate quite clearly that there's a safety issue in not pursuing the installation of fluoride into the water supply in their local community, those arrangements will stay in place."

"The Everyone Deserves Healthy Teeth Coalition supports water fluoridation for the city of Portland."
Here is what they are not telling you about Fluoride!
The "fluoride" added to 90% of drinking water is not actually fluoride at all it's hydrofluosilicic acid a Toxic Waste which is a compound of fluorine that is a chemical byproduct of aluminum, steel, cement, phosphate, and nuclear weapons manufacturing.

Fluoridation Comes to Portland, Oregon

‘Oman should stop adding sodium fluoride to water’

‘Oman should stop adding sodium fluoride to water’

Adding sodium fluoride to water systems in order to prevent dental caries has been a common practice worldwide since 1951. Yet a growing number of anti-fluoride activists claim that sodium fluoride is a dangerous substance which, when ingested, can have many adverse effects. Eighty per cent of tap water in Oman is fluoridated.

The Public Authority for Electricity & Water (PAEW) operates 32 desalination plants and purchases water from eight private desalination plants, according to Abdullah al Naimi, PAEW control centre manager. “Up to 213,000 m3 of water is produced daily and some desalination plants add sodium fluoride to a level below 1.5mg/l as per Omani Water Standards and World Health Organisation guidelines.”

However, Paul Beeber, president of the New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, believes fluoridation is not only ineffective in reducing tooth decay, it is harmful to health and is also a waste of money. “I don't think Oman or any country should add fluoride chemicals into their citizenry via the water supply based on what the US does.”

“You (Oman) should do your own research and be objective about it and not blindly trust that endorsing organisations researched the subject. Fluoridation opposition is scientific, respectable and growing and more than 4,176 professionals including 341 dentists and 531 medical doctors urge that fluoridation be stopped, citing scientific evidence that ingesting fluoride is ineffective at reducing tooth decay and has serious health risks,” he said. “Even more alarming is 33 studies, which link fluoride exposure to lowered IQ in children along with 100 animal studies linking fluoride to brain defects,” he added.

Beeber explained that unlike naturally occurring fluorides, the sodium fluoride added to water networks is a byproduct of aluminium and phosphate industries.

“Instruments catch and capture the sodium fluoride in smoke stacks and it is later sold to us. If those companies couldn't sell phosphate fertiliser waste to fluoridating communities, they would have to treat it like hazardous waste and dispose it in a way that would probably cost them money,” he said.

Further, cities in the US like Milwaukee, Phoenix, Santa Fe, Portland and New York are said to be in the middle of fluoridation battles in one way or another. “Americans are starting to question and reject fluoridation and the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) admits that up to 60 per cent of US children are fluoride overdosed and affected with dental fluorosis,” he added.

We don’t need any extra fluoride in drinking water
August 27, 2012 By admin Leave a Comment
Dear Editor,
The issue in relation to fluoride is not whether it has an impact on dental decay. The issue is whether it should be put in the nation’s drinking water.
Dental decay is not caused by a lack of fluoride, but by poor diet and inadequate dental hygiene.
We are exposed to fluoride through toothpaste, mouthwashes and from other sources, as well as when we are thirsty. We do not need it in our drinking water as well.

Anti fluoride protesters bring campaign to Lisburn

MEMBERS of the ‘No fluoride in NI water’ group were in the city this week sharing their concerns with locals about proposals to add fluoride to water in Northern Ireland.
The group was formed earlier this year when it was revealed Health Minister Edwin Poots is considering adding fluoride to the water in a bid to curb the rate of tooth decay in young people.
At the time The DUP MLA said the public should be ashamed of their dental hygiene.
“We’ve failed miserably,” he said, before adding that children were being allowed far too much sugary food and drink from a very early age - in some cases before the age of one year.
However Patricia Gillespie who is against the fluoride proposals says that fluoride is highly toxic and people need to be aware. “This means the highly toxic substance hydrofluorosilicic acid will be added to your drinking water,” she said.

She continued: “Hydrofluorosilicic is a waste product of the phosphate fertiliser and aluminium industries and due to the process used to obtain it, it will always contain other toxic elements. Because it is put into the water supply and is also in the food chain, there is no way of measuring how much each individual consumes and anyone at any time could be ingesting extremely dangerous levels.”

She added: “On every level possible, this proposed scheme is utter madness. It is financially irresponsible and ethically repugnant.”

Patricia said that farmers have also shown their opposition to fluoridation. She said: “Considering 98% of Europe has banned this outdated practice, no EU country would want to buy our dairy and meat products if they have been consuming fluoridated water. Also in 1996, 25 out of 26 local councils here voted against the then proposal to fluoridate Northern Ireland and Mr Paisley was totally against it.”

Fluoridated USA - Pediatric cavities reach an all-time high

The Dispatch

The CDC reports disparities in early childhood tooth decay along racial, ethnic and socioeconomic lines: 14.5 percent of white children 2-5 years of age had untreated cavities in 2004, compared with Hispanics of Mexican origin at 24.2 percent and African-Americans at 29.2 percent. Young children, ages 2-5, below 100 percent of the U.S. poverty threshold experienced twice the rate of untreated cavities (26.1 percent) as those above 200 percent of the poverty level (12.1 percent) during the same period. The U.S. poverty threshold is now set at $22,314 in annual income for a family of four.

Parents and primary caregivers should make sure children are cleaning their teeth, Laws said. "A lot of parents let their children brush their own teeth, but some children just don't have the dexterity to do that. Parents can clean their children's teeth with a wash cloth, if nothing else. They need to clean them twice a day and have regular checkups."

"It is essential that parents play close attention to good oral health during the first year of a child's life," said Dr. Ronald Venezie, a pediatric dentist who practices in Apex and whose expertise was cited in the dental society's press release. "A dentist should examine a child as soon as primary teeth begin to appear, usually during the first six months and no later than the first birthday. This is similar to a 'well-baby' checkup, and it will not only identify potential problems, it gets the child used to visiting the dentist at an early age."

Children who have serious decay at a very young age may need to be sedated and require hospitalization for dental care.

"Dental decay is the No. 1 infectious disease in America," Laws said.

USA - Portland, Oregon to spend $5 million to poison its residents with toxic fluoride

Portland, Oregon to spend $5 million to poison its residents with toxic fluoride
Monday, August 27, 2012 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer
(NaturalNews) One of the last remaining urban bastions of fluoride-free water, the city of Portland, Oregon, is about to join the ranks of most other U.S. cities in forcibly medicating its residents with a drug that has been scientifically shown to impede proper brain development, lower IQ, damage thyroid function, and even cause cancer.

Oregon's Herald and News reports that Portland Mayor Sam Adams has decided to join two other fluoride supporters on the five-member City Council, Randy Leonard and Nick Fish, in voting to support the mass medication of Portlanders via the public water supply. The other two members, Amanda Fritz and Dan Saltzman, have expressed opposition to water fluoridation.
At this time, there is no official date for when the council will vote on the issue. But unless the people of Portland and their supporters around the country raise hell to the Portland City Council in the following days and weeks, this three-two majority will eventually force mandatory water fluoridation to become law, despite the fact that Portlanders have repeatedly voted down water fluoridation efforts in the past.
Mayor Sam Adams says he grew up drinking fluoridated water, his hometown's website says otherwise
As part of his argument for why he supports fluoridation, Mayor Adams told reporters that he grew up drinking fluoridated water in his hometown of Newport, Oregon. This, he says, is the reason why his teeth are now white and allegedly very healthy.

But a quick trip over to the City of Newport's Public Works page reveals that Newport, Oregon does not, in fact, fluoridate its water supply (http://www.thecityofnewport.net/dept/pwk/waterquality.asp). The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also confirms this, as its Oral Health Resources page shows that the fluoride concentration in Newport's public water supply is 0.00 mg/L. Abstract

A recent decision by several Australian federal politicians to support a parliamentary review of artificial water fluoridation has an intensified debate on the public health intervention. While there is a majority agreement among Australian dentists and other health professionals that adequate enamel fluoride is essential for dental health, the ethics of artificial fluoridation of public water supplies as a contemporary vehicle for facilitating adequate supply of fluoride to teeth is highly contested. Opponents of artificial water fluoridation insist that there are many alternative sources of fluoride, that mandatory water fluoridation violates the ethical principle of autonomy and that water fluoridation is not only expensive and unnecessary but also may endanger health by causing fluorosis and, potentially, hypothyroidism and pathological bone fractures. In contrast, proponents of water fluoridation posit that mandatory water fluoridation facilitates health equity and that the benefits accruing to society from prevention of dental caries (beneficence principle) outweighs impairment of individual autonomy. This article utilizes Childress’ ‘justificatory conditions’ to evaluate the ethical appropriateness of artificial water fluoridation in Australia. The author concludes that there is insufficient ethical justification for artificial water fluoridation in Australia.

East End kids with tooth decay to get NHS fluoride treatment in school

East End kids with tooth decay to get NHS fluoride treatment in school
Mike Brooke Friday, August 24, 2012
Children are to have their teeth varnished with fluoride at school to tackle high levels of tooth decay.
Nearly one-in-three youngsters aged five in east London have had tooth decay, the NHS has found.
Now a programme to cut rates of child tooth decay is being launched in nursery and primary schools when the new term begins.
The programme developed NHS North East London and the City, already being tested in a pilot scheme, aims to reduce levels by a third.
It involves dental inspections for youngsters aged three to six and health education sessions for parents to promote better oral health care.
“The programme is already being run in five schools with the worst dental health,” said Lesley Mountford, public health director for the NHS in east London.
“But we feel it’s important that all children are given the chance to benefit from it.
“I hope that thousands of youngsters benefit, from the initial fluoride treatment and learning to care for their teeth properly for years to come.
“Tooth decay is common in young children—but is preventable.”
Part of the programme involves a treatment which coats children’s teeth with a fluoride varnish twice a year.
Those who already have tooth decay will also be sent to an NHS dentist of the parents’ choice.
Parents are being invited to enrol youngsters in the programme in nursery, reception and Year-1. They will be asked to sign consent forms giving permission for their child to be included.
Any children identified in the check-up sessions with tooth decay will have the fluoride coating at school and advised to get treatment from a dental practice of the parents’ choice.
Parents will also be invited to attend information sessions at their child’s school, to ask questions about the programme.

Stop Poisoning Our Water With Fluoride

The addition of fluorosilicic acid to public water supplies under the guise of a 'preventative measure for dental caries' is blatantly a medication and cannot be interpreted in any other way therefore people in areas where the water supply is fluoridated are being mass medicated without their consent. This is an infringement of their human rights as well as a slow death by poisoning. Children suffer greatest from fluoride poisoning as can be seen from the increase in dental fluorosis in areas that fluoridate water. Dental fluorosis is but an outward sign of something far more dangerous, skeletal fluorosis, which is the poisoning of the whole skeletal structure. There is no doubt that fluoride is a neurotoxin, reduces IQ and is totally uneccessary for the function of the human bio system. The latest scientific study from Harvard University by Choi et al confirms most if not all of the fears that anti-fluoridationists have been saying for years. It is a sad indictment on those that are pro-fluoride that there is not one single scientifically validated study to be found that supports their view. Fluoride does NOT stop cavities. This was a myth created and marketed by ALCOA (American Aluminum Company of America) way back in the late 40's so that instead of having to spend millions on safe disposal of a toxic waste product they instead sold the same toxic waste product for profit to the gullible water and dental hygiene industries.

The Benefits of Water Fluoridation?

This short video presents four inconvenient facts about the purported miraculous benefits of water fluoridation. Fact 1: If fluoridated water has a benefit, it is a topical one (there is no need to actually swallow it). Fact 2: Despite 60+ years of research, there is not a single randomized controlled trial, let alone a blinded study, demonstrating fluoridation's benefits. Fact 3: The largest national surveys of dental health in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand have found no significant difference in tooth decay (as measured by DMFT) between children living their whole lives in fluoridated vs. non-fluoridated areas. Fact 4: Comprehensive data from the World Health Organization shows that western countries with no water fluoridation programs have experienced the same reduction in tooth decay over the past 40 years as countries with mass fluoridation programs such as the United States.

BBC - Southampton water fluoridation scheme 'to go ahead'

Southampton water fluoridation scheme 'to go ahead'
Fluoridation supporters say the move will reduce tooth decay Continue reading the main story
The authority in charge of adding fluoride to Southampton's water has yet to set a timetable for the scheme, even though it will be disbanded in 2013.
The South of England strategic health authority (SHA), which is due to be scrapped in March, insists fluoridation of the city's tap water will go ahead.

The admission comes as campaigners urge the government to halt the process.

The Hampshire Against Fluoridation (HAF) group is concerned that fluoride could have adverse health effects.
In a letter to the Secretary of State for Health Andrew Lansley, HAF chairman John Spottiswoode urged the government to channel money for fluoridation into child dental services.
The Department of Health said decisions on the fluoridation of drinking water - which aims to reduce tooth decay - should be taken locally.
The SHA agreed to a request by NHS Southampton City in 2009 to add fluoride to tap water in Southampton and parts of south Hampshire but, when asked for an update, a spokesman said no timetable had been set.
'Ridiculous situation'
Southern Water, which would carry out the fluoridation, said: "An updated feasibility study is ongoing and we are in regular correspondence with the Strategic Health Authority as part of this."

Mr Spottiswoode said: "With less than eight months before the SHA is abolished, the details of the scheme have not been finalised, Southern Water cannot say which areas would be fluoridated and we have no idea of costs and there are no published details of the scheme - obviously a ridiculous situation."
Following the government's abolition of the SHAs, which forms part of the Health and Social Care Act, decisions over fluoridation will rest with councils.

Southampton City Council said it was not aware of any imminent plans by the SHA to implement the scheme.

A Department of Health spokesman said: "Currently strategic health authorities conduct consultations on proposals for fluoridation but, with effect from next April, this responsibility will transfer to local authorities.
"We will be shortly conducting a consultation on the detail of these changes which we propose to make through regulations and will be inviting comments on the process."
The fluoridation of Southampton's water has already been the subject of a legal battle, led by resident Geraldine Milner.

In February, the High Court ruled that the health authority was not acting unlawfully in seeking to fluoridate the water.

Embattled Irish health minister is the European Union’s first to be accused of medical assault.

22nd August 2012
Embattled Irish health minister is the European Union’s first to be accused of medical assault.
Already notorious as the state’s first cabinet member to be named on a debt defaulter’s list by the High Court, Ireland’s health minister and GP, Dr James Reilly, has now almost certainly become the first minister in the European Union to be accused of medical assault. The Irish Medical News of 20/8/2012 reveals that five months after consumers have emailed their refusal of consent to the minister’s crude fluoride treatment, he continues to enforce this mandatory medication on them.
“To continue to treat people in the European Union against their expressed will constitutes medical assault” said Irelandagainstfluoridation‘s Robert Pocock today.

End illicit medical assault on people of Ireland
Mr Robert Pocock,
Irelandagainstfluoridation.org
The Dept of Health’s uncertainty about allowing prescription of clinically trialled cannabis-based medicinal products with acceptable side effect profile (Florian Scheibein IMN 16/7/2012) and recommended for approval by the European Medicines Agency for MS treatment, is at total variance with the Department’s absolute certainty in treating everyone via their tap water with a uniform dose of clinically untrialled and unlicensed fluorosilicates.

The Health Minister, Dr James Reilly is even more compromised considering that since March 2012, on www.irelandagainstfluoridation.org, informed individuals have at the rate of one a day refused their consent to be treated with this off-label medicinal product.

Five months on and the medically trained minister persists in prescribing this fake medical product whose other use is the industrial treatment of metal surfaces. He is in blatant defiance of the Medicinal Products Directive (2001/83/EC), the Clinical Trials Directive (2001/20/EC) and Good Clinical Practice Directive (2005/28/EC) -- all designed to protect consumers in Europe from quack treatments and products. It is hard to conceive of anyone with a greater obligation to end this illicit medical assault on the people of Ireland than the current Health Minister.

Does fluoride in drinking water hurt your brain?

Does fluoride in drinking water hurt your brain?
By Dr. Keith Ablow
Published August 22, 2012
FoxNews.com
Back in 2011, the EPA reversed course and lowered the recommended maximum amount of fluoride in drinking water due to data that the levels then being allowed put kids at risk of dental fluorosis--streaking and pitting of teeth due to excessive fluoride, which also puts tooth enamel at risk.

This conclusion was a discordant note amidst all the accolades fluoride had won, starting with the discovery during the 1940s that people who lived near water supplies containing naturally occurring fluoride had fewer cavities in their teeth. A massive push ensued, with government and industry encouraging cities and towns to add fluoride to water supplies.
Now, questions about the impact of fluoride on mental health are growing and can no longer be ignored.

A recently published Harvard study showed that children living in areas with highly fluoridated water have "significantly lower" IQ scores than those living in areas where the water has low fluoride levels. In fact, the study analyzed the results of 27 prior investigations and found the following, among other conclusions:

* Fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development (in children) at exposures much below those that cause toxicity in adults.

* Rats exposed to (relatively low) fluoride concentrations in water showed cellular changes in the brain and increased levels of aluminum in brain tissue.

Other research studies in animals link fluoride intake to the development of beta-amyloid plaques (the classic finding in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's dementia).

And research on fluoride also has implicated it in changing the structure of the brains of fetuses, negatively impacting the behavioral/neurological assessment scores of newborns and, in animal studies, impairing memory.

This information is very important, from a psychiatric standpoint, because we have witnessed rising rates of attention deficit disorder, major depression, dementia and many other psychiatric illnesses since the 1940s, and because the United States (which fluoridates a much higher percentage of its drinking water than most countries, including European nations) has some of the highest rates of mental disorders in the world--by a wide margin.

It is not clear, of course, that fluoride is responsible wholly, or even in small measure, for these facts, but the connection is an intriguing one, especially in light of the new Harvard study.

Given the available data, I would recommend that children with learning disorders, attention deficit disorder, depression, attention-deficit disorder or other psychiatric illnesses refrain from drinking fluoridated water, and consult a dentist about the most effective way of delivering sufficient fluoride to the teeth directly, while minimizing absorption by the body as a whole--and the brain, specifically.

Sugary foods and over-processed carbs take much of the rap for chronic disease and overweight, but here's another casualty that makes fewer headlines – baby teeth. We might live in the age of fluoride and flash cosmetic dentistry, but the latest report card on children's dental health showed a surprising number of little kids with holes in their first teeth. Almost 50 per cent of six-year olds attending school dental services had one or more teeth that was either decayed, missing or had been filled, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare's Child Dental Health Survey revealed this year.

MORE FLUORIDE COMING FOR THE "SHEEPLE"!

Published on 18 Aug 2012 by ZeroPoint2013
Fluoride Facts:
Fluoride Is A Carcinogen
Fluoride was found to be an equivocal carcinogen by the National Cancer Institute Toxicological Program.
Further studies by the New Jersey Department of Health have now confirmed a 6.9 fold increase in bone cancer in young males.
Earlier studies had found a 5% increase in all types of cancers in fluoridated communities.
Fluoride Increases Hip Fractures
Drinking fluoridated water will double the number of hip fractures for both older men and women.
Extremely low levels of water fluoridation 0.1 ppm still produced statistically significant increased hip fractures.
Fluoride Increases Infertility
Infertility in women was found to increase with water fluoridation.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) scientists reported a close correlation between decreasing total fertility rates in women between ages of 10 and 49, and increasing fluoride levels.
They also reported that a review of all of the animal studies done to date shows that fluoride adversely affects fertility in most animal species.
Fluoride Increases Fluorosis
Opaque white spots and brown ugly teeth caused by fluoride is called Fluorosis.
Fluorosis currently affects one out of five or more children in this nation although it is rarely seen in California.
California is the least fluoridated state with less than 16% of the population drinking artificially fluoridated water.
Fluoride is not effective in reducing tooth decay.
No correlation was found between the level of fluoride in water and dental caries.
There appears to be a genetically related increase in tooth decay for Hispanics, Indians, Native Americans and Asians.
Decay is related to the educational and economic level of the parents.
Fluoride Is Unapproved By FDA
The FDA considers fluoride an unapproved new drug for which there is no proof of safety or effectiveness.
The FDA does not consider fluoride an essential nutriment.
Fluoride Is Highly Toxic
The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology has classified Fluoride as an unapproved dental medicament due to its high toxicity...

Hope our water is better than that.

"I have been working on this appeal with legal counsel for the past six weeks," Mr Oshlack said.

"We want the decision set aside and to stop building the dousing plants."

The veteran campaigner lodged the appeal on Wednesday after the Land and Environment Court rejected his legal attempt to overturn Rous's approval for fluoride to be added to water in the Lismore and Ballina areas, including the construction of dousing plants at Clunes, Dorroughby, Corndale, Knockrow and Marom Creek......

Fluoride (or more specifically hydrofluorosilicic acid) is toxic industrial waste!
It is a by-product of the fertiliser and aluminium industry. It is NOT pharmaceutical grade and its safety has NEVER been tested for human consumption.
Ireland is the ONLY country in Europe that adds this toxic waste to the water supply.
It has recently been linked to cancer, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, depression, heart defects, neurological disease and many more.

Demand for full tests on impact of fluoride
CAMPAIGNERS fighting plans to add fluoride to Hampshire tap water have called on the Government to end a “medical scandal” by fully testing the impact it has on health.

Hampshire Against fluoridation wants the chemical to be treated as a medicine, and for rigorous assessments of its possible effects to be carried out for the first time – before it can be added to tap water.

The organisation, which has been fighting the controversial scheme to fluoridate homes and businesses in parts of Southampton , Eastleigh , Totton , Netley and Rownhams , has written to the Health Secretary demanding a change in the law.
Its chairman, John Spottiswoode , said the refusal to fully examine the effects of fluoridation is “very reminiscent of the early days of the defence of nicotine, lead and asbestos”.

Health bosses hope to introduce fluoride in Hampshire by next spring, arguing it will improve children’s dental health and has no proven serious side effects, but Mr Spottiswoode said he fears growing evidence of harm is being ignored.

Opponents claimed the chemical can cause problems such as mottled teeth, brittle bones, cancers and even lowered IQ in youngsters.

Mr Spottiswoode said he wants the Department of Health to require fluoride to be examined to strict medicinal standards before new schemes are brought in, adding to those running elsewhere in the UK since the 1960s.

He said: “Millions are being experimented on with a substance that has never been properly tested.

“The question is how long this medical scandal can continue, the unsound defence of fluoride being very reminiscent of the early days of the defence of nicotine, lead and asbestos..........

Increase in dental fluoride varnish treatments for children despite insufficient safety data

Increase in dental fluoride varnish treatments for children despite insufficient safety data
Despite so much evidence demonstrating the toxicity of fluoride, it's still being forced down our children's throats!

In many parts of the world children’s toothpaste carries a toxicity warning. And for good reason. Yet children are still exposed to supplemental fluoride from many sources: hexafluorosilicic acid in tap water, bottled water with added fluoride, fluoride tablets, food supplements, mouth rinses, gels, foams —and now increasing use of sodium fluoride dental varnishes.

The use of fluoride varnish treatment (FVT) to minimise the development of dental caries has increased, having been widely used for four decades in Europe, Canada and other parts of the World. National Health Service (NHS) dentists in England carried out almost 850,000 FVTs on young people in 2010-11..................

Quite a bit at the end about fluoridation and how to remove it.

Fluoride is Dangerous and Doesn't Help Teeth!

That may be the position now but only after the water companies colluded with the government to bring this legislation about in exchange for being absolved from litigation for damages to health.

UK - Call for the government to test fluoride properly

Call for the government to test fluoride properly
Hampshire Against Fluoridation (HAF) has written to call on the Department of Health to step in to require that fluoridation chemicals are tested properly to medicinal standards.

John Spottiswoode, Chairman of HAF, said: “Fluoridation has never been tested and approved to medical standards (possibly cynically because everyone knows it will fail). This lack of high quality testing of fluoride, which is STILL the case after 50 years, means that literally millions are being experimented on with a substance that has NEVER been properly tested. Mounting epidemiological evidence of harm continues to be pushed to one side by the authorities because ‘it is not proof’. Association does not prove causation, never mind how many studies show health problems. The question is how long this medical scandal can continue, the unsound defence of fluoride being very reminiscent of the early days of the defence of nicotine, lead, and asbestos. ”

A recent study by the David Shaw of the University of Glasgow concluded that ““… the status quo rests on the legal fiction that fluoridated water does not constitute a medication.”[ref 1] Despite the fact that fluoride is being used to achieve a medical change (fewer cavities), and millions of people drink it every day, the authorities continue to pretend that it is not being used for medicinal purposes. This is despite the fact that Lord Jauncey ruled in 1982 that it is absolutely clear that fluoridation of water is being used to seek to achieve a change in the health of people and this by any sensible definition is a medicinal use.

John Spottiswoode added “Another consequence of this shambolic failure to protect the public from fluoride by not testing it properly is the fact that fluoride chemicals added to water are not to medicinal standards. Instead they are to industrial standards, as befits an industrial waste product and not something consumed on a large scale by humans. This means that several toxins can be (and are) included with the fluoride, which whilst only at theoretically low levels are still worryingly high for the level of consumption by people every day over the long term. It is the duty of the Department of Health to look after the population’s health and this is a very serious loop-hole that means the population is NOT being protected. Continuing with a legal fiction is not a moral or defensible course to take and it should not need a legal case to rule on this again. “

“Water fluoridation should not be extended until the fluoride chemicals have been properly tested for their effects on the whole body and not just on the teeth. These chemicals should also not be added to the water with their level of toxins which goes against the policy of trying to eliminate such things as arsenic from water. In Hampshire and Southampton we should not be forced to drink water polluted by these toxins as well as by fluoride. We know there are serious health problems with fluoride from a wide range of good quality studies, and it is high time that the Department of Health required medicinal levels of testing. The authorities plan to force feed us all a medication that has not been tested properly, is known to be a toxin and is supplied with other toxins included.”

In 1983, in the Edinburgh Court of Session, Lord Jauncey ruled that fluoride, in whatever form it is ultimately purchased by the public, is a medicine. The judge sustained the Petitioner’s plea in law that fluoridation for the purpose of reducing the incidence of dental caries was ULTRA-VIRES the respondent, and granted the interdict on this point and on this point alone. All her other pleas were rejected.

Harvard Study Confirms Fluoride Reduces Children's IQ

Harvard Study Confirms Fluoride Reduces Children's IQ
August 14 2012By
Dr. Mercola
A recently published Harvard University meta-analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has concluded that children who live in areas with highly fluoridated water have "significantly lower" IQ scores than those who live in low fluoride areas.

In a 32-page report that can be downloaded free of charge from Environmental Health Perspectives1, the researchers said:

"A recent report from the U.S. National Research Council (NRC 20062) concluded that adverse effects of high fluoride concentrations in drinking water may be of concern and that additional research is warranted. Fluoride may cause neurotoxicity in laboratory animals, including effects on learning and memory…

To summarize the available literature, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies on increased fluoride exposure in drinking water and neurodevelopmental delays. We specifically targeted studies carried out in rural China that have not been widely disseminated, thus complementing the studies that have been included in previous reviews and risk assessment reports...

Findings from our meta-analyses of 27 studies published over 22 years suggest an inverse association between high fluoride exposure and children's intelligence... The results suggest that fluoride may be a developmental neurotoxicant that affects brain development at exposures much below those that can cause toxicity in adults...

Serum-fluoride concentrations associated with high intakes from drinking-water may exceed 1 mg/L, or 50 Smol/L, thus more than 1000-times the levels of some other neurotoxicants that cause neurodevelopmental damage. Supporting the plausibility of our findings, rats exposed to 1 ppm (50 Smol/L) of water-fluoride for one year showed morphological alterations in the brain and increased levels of aluminum in brain tissue compared with controls...

In conclusion, our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children's neurodevelopment.

Future research should formally evaluate dose-response relations based on individual-level measures of exposure over time, including more precise prenatal exposure assessment and more extensive standardized measures of neurobehavioral performance, in addition to improving assessment and control of potential confounders."

UK Portsmouth News

‘We can’t bash people over the head and tell them to go on diets’

NEW CHALLENGE Paul Edmondson-Jones who is leaving Portsmouth City Council as director of public health. Picture: Ian Hargreaves (122569-1)
By Chris Owen
Published on Saturday 11 August 2012 05:00

We grab a coffee from the kiosk in Guildhall Square and head back to Paul Edmondson-Jones’s eyrie of an office overlooking the heart of Portsmouth.
As we enter the civic offices a very fat woman waddles and wobbles past. She’s pushing a double buggy and pants heavily.
Both children – and they look far too large not to be walking anyway – are swigging from bottles of cola.
Their timing is ironic, for Paul has devoted the past decade attempting to reduce obesity, encourage physical fitness and save children’s teeth. Among many other things.

But the moment is lost on the 58-year-old. It’s his penultimate day as the director of public health for Portsmouth. He’s off to York to do the same job. He has an office to clear and needs to ‘lend a hand’ to wife Amanda who’s packing up the house.

The fat woman and her sugar-addicted offspring are not an uncommon sight on the streets of Portsmouth, nor anywhere else in the UK these days.

But Paul’s enthusiasm for improving the lifestyle and health of the 200,000 or so people of the city is undimmed.
Since he arrived, the life expectancy of both sexes, particularly women, has increased to above the average for England. Ten years ago if you lived in Portsmouth you could expect a shorter life than someone in, say, Gloucester.
He has made spectacular progress in getting people to quit smoking, has driven hard-hitting campaigns to tackle teenage pregnancies, alcohol abuse and violence against women and girls.
And there’s been the small matter of creating a new tranche of NHS dentists.
But Paul is clear where the next target, and that of his successor, lies. And here comes the nod to that panting mum.
‘Persuading people to take up some form of physical activity is the one we have to crack next,’ he says. ‘Yes, people are giving up smoking, but obesity is a massive problem.’ He doesn’t excuse the pun.
‘We can’t bash people over the head and tell them to go on diets. That won’t work. The key is to get them to take regular exercise.
‘We have become a very sedentary population and we can all make the excuse that we’re too busy to exercise.
‘We drive rather than walk, we’re frightened of getting wet in the rain. But getting exercise, especially in a place like Portsmouth, is so easy and doesn’t have to cost anything.
‘You certainly don’t have to join a gym. We’ve got a wonderful seafront on our doorstep, let’s use it – whether it’s walking the dog, playing with your children or taking a 20-minute walk every morning.’
Paul has five-year-old Jack to keep him on his toes plus two adult daughters from his first marriage and another, also in her twenties, he had inherited from his second.
‘I play football and rugby on the common with Jack or we go to the beach to throw stones. It’s all exercise and we are blessed in this city with having so much quality open space to enjoy.’
He says Jack ‘has absolutely no problems’ with his teeth. ‘It’s all right having lots of new NHS dentists in the city, but if you need access to a dentist you already have a problem.
‘The secret is not having that problem in the first place by getting kids to clean their teeth and not have sugary drinks. Jack will drink water or milk. We’ll let him have the occasional sugary drink, but he doesn’t have them all day long.’
Which bring us to the thorny question of the fluoridation of water – putting fluoride in the city’s water supply to prevent tooth decay. It is perhaps his biggest regret of his time in Portsmouth.
‘Yes, I believe we should fluoridate water. It’s controversial but I’ve always been very clear about it. However, the primary care trust had other health priorities and I accept that. You can’t fight every war and win. You have to pick the things you can win.’
He cites Birmingham and Lincolnshire where the authorities have added fluoride to the water. ‘You look at the statistics now and you can see the level of tooth decay in those places coming down. I don’t think even the anti-fluoride brigade would argue with that.
‘What they would say is that it might be fine for children but it pollutes the water for everybody.’...
No it isn't fine for children. I don't suppose he has heard of the Harvard IQ news and hasn't he seen what fluorosis looks like.

NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A truck delivering fluosilicic acid to the Regional Water Authority on Foxon Road spilled 50 to 70 gallons Thursday morning.
The acid is used to add fluoride to water.

Department of Energy and Environmental Protection workers and local firefighters were called to the scene to keep people away until an environmental contractor was brought in to clean up the spill.
It's not clear yet what caused the spill.
No one was hurt.

Madness to add fluoride to water
I READ the interesting "In my View" article "Fluoridation at any cost?" on July 12.
I agree that it's madness to add to tap water chemical that must be avoided by some sections of the community.
We are now told that babies' milk feeds should NOT be made up using fluoridated water as infants can receive too much fluoride which can damage their tooth enamel. It is now advised that parents make up baby feeds using bottled water - but just think of the added expense for parents and all that plastic waste.
Fluoride has to be removed for kidney patients on dialysis and some people are allergic to fluoride.
Twenty-six years ago researcher Edward Priestley suffered bone marrow destruction caused by workplace toxic chemicals. Doctors didn't think he would survive but by avoiding all toxic substances such as fluoride, years later his blood count is normal and he is free of the disease.
Fluoride can cause thyroid trouble. In the past if a patient had an overactive thyroid gland, hospitals used to knock out thyroid function by using fluoride.
The 'one-size fits all' idea of artificially fluoridating tap water is outdated. A much more effective and less wasteful method has been developed whereby dentists apply fluoride to a child's teeth, taking great care that the child doesn't swallow any.
The trouble is the authorities don't want to admit they made a mistake.

When was the last time you went to the dentist?

Chances are you may be among the one in five Americans that have an untreated cavity, and be related to the 39 percent of children and 52 percent of teens who have had a form of dental restoration such as a root canal, according to a recent report by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics.

If that sounds bad, consider that more preschoolers not elementary schoolers, but preschoolers are showing up to dentists with 10 or more cavities, many needing anesthesia because the work needed is so severe.

The problem of oral health care is so bad that that 50 million Americans live in areas where they can’t easily visit a dentist, former Surgeon General David Satcher explained at a conference on unmet oral health needs sponsored by the Morehouse School of Medicine and the Sullivan Alliance to Transform America’s Health Professions....

Ireland - Problems with fluoride

A chara, – In his advocacy of water fluoridation, Joseph Briscoe (August 1st) suggests he saw a “bewildering” positive change in dental health after the introduction of fluoride into our water during the 1960s. However, this positive change was most likely due to the abundant fluoride toothpastes and mouthwashes that came to supermarket shelves at that time.

It is important to note that fluoride is a topical treatment for oral healthcare; it is not supposed to be ingested. Water fluoridation is a costly exercise for the State. Ending this outdated treatment of public water should qualify as “low lying fruit” when it comes to budget cuts in December. – Is mise,

Harvard Study Finds Fluoride Lowers IQ

By Dr. Mercola
Fluoride is added to 70 percent of U.S. public drinking water supplies to aid in the prevention of cavities.
This benefit is dubious at best, as there is practically no difference in tooth decay rates between fluoridated and non-fluoridated countries, and no difference between states that fluoridate a high versus low percentage of their water.

Yet, while fluoride in drinking water does NOT decrease rates of tooth decay, numerous studies show that this chemical has a wide array of devastating health effects – one of them being lowered IQ.............

Kansas Health Foundation Wants Poison in Our Water • June 2012

Poison is no small accusation, nor is it inaccurate.

Fluoride proponents are at it again. However this time, deep-pockets with special-interests are running public television ads in a massive psychological campaign against the public; to further the fluoridation [benefit] myth to introduce this damaging industrial waste product to the public water supply.

Wichita is one of the few of the largest, last-remaining cities in the nation to have never had fluoride chemicals deliberately introduced and the introduction of these toxins has been defeated in prior years. Our opponent(s), primarily the Kansas Health Foundation and its representatives, have procured outrageous funding from manufacturing mafia-men and special-interest groups hiding in the shadows, to see that they win.

Tooth decay is an epidemic in Australia and more than 30 per cent of people only brush their teeth once a day, according to the Australian Dental Association.

It was the country's most common health problem, which cost the economy $2 billion a year, but it was also one of the most preventable, the ADA said as it launched Dental Health Week today.

Although tooth decay was five times more prevalent than asthma in children, 35 per cent of parents said their children only brushed once a day and 60 per cent expected them to have tooth decay.........

Ireland - Problems with fluoride

Problems with fluoride
Sir, – Dr Joseph Briscoe (August 1st) objects to Declan Waugh’s argument on fluoridation (July 31st). Mr Waugh has studied the scientific literature thoroughly, as I have done. Associations between harms to humans and fluoridation is quite certain in the cases of four such adverse effects. Evidence for many other adverse effects is less certain but enough to prompt caution and further research, rather than continuing in the face of uncertainty. To respond to these facts with “What nonsense!” is irresponsible.

As for efficacy in prevention of cavities, of course we must respect Dr Briscoe’s personal experience, but it is not consistent with the data from large-scale, systematic studies which show very little or no benefit. The decrease in tooth decay from early 1960s to 2004 occurred equally in fluoridated and not fluoridated industrialised countries. And it is widely accepted now that any benefit is due to a direct effect on tooth enamel, not on swallowing fluoride.

Also many good studies have shown that cessation of fluoridation is followed by reduction in incidence of cavities or no change. – Yours, etc,

Sci Fi story

Fluoride, a Chemical Weapon for Spiritual Warfare?
by Szandor Blestman
August 2, 2012
"Truth is so hard to tell, it sometimes needs fiction to make it plausible."
- Francis Bacon

Sometimes as a writer of science fiction and fantasy I have to depend on my imagination to come up with a good storyline. Of course the bad guys and the good guys have to be clearly defined. Usually the bad guys are some people, or humanoids, or beings with human qualities of some sort, that wish to exercise power over other people, or humanoids, or beings with human qualities of some sort. The good guys are people, et al., who wish to empower themselves and fend off the influence of the power seeking evil. In the telling of a good versus evil story it makes it interesting if there is a small group of good guys who realize that the bad guys are manipulating the innocent masses of people in horrendous ways. It then becomes incumbent upon the good guys to alert the populous to the manipulations, or at least to try to save the innocent even if they go unrecognized.

Here is an exercise in using the imagination. Let's pretend there was a race of beautiful humanoid creatures who lived with one foot in the material world and one foot in the spiritual world. For millennia these people have lived in peace and have built a virtual paradise through peace and cooperation. They have built wonderful cities and acquired a plethora of knowledge, or maybe they have learned to live in a wondrous harmony with nature. That would be nice, but not much to write about. Enter some being or beings, perhaps humanoid, perhaps some other species, perhaps from a completely different dimension, who have their own agenda. They are jealous of what the humanoid race has developed, or perhaps they see a weakness they can exploit. In any case they decide to use negative emotions like fear and jealousy to introduce this beautiful race to war.

The race is split into disparate groups. Languages become unintelligible between these groups. Differences are focused upon rather than similarities. Civilization is destroyed. The great cities are laid to waste. The race descends into survival mode, reverting to small groups and tribes just so they can eke out a living and try to prevent extinction. They are short lived, but the evil ones live a longer lifespan. Most knowledge is forgotten by the humanoid creatures, but the evil ones remember and use their knowledge to maintain control over the humanoids. They use them as slaves to do hard labor while they live in luxury. Then one day their agenda is accomplished and they leave. They appear to have simply vanished.

Ah, but there was a hierarchy to the humanoid slaves. There was a priest class that had some access to the evil ones. This priest class is the first to discover that they are gone, but that also gives them access to the knowledge the evil ones had written down. They decide to use that knowledge to become an elite ruling class and keep the rest of their fellow humanoids enslaved.

Now here comes the real test of the imagination. How do you keep the multitudes from discovering their true destiny? How do you keep them focused on the physical world and ignorant of their true spiritual nature? How do you keep them focused on fear and distrust instead of love and compassion? It might be easy at first, but as technology improves and populations grow communications get better. Knowledge becomes more easily obtained. It becomes harder and harder to keep ideas dangerous to the ruling elite from spreading.

Fast forward to modern times! That's where our story truly begins. A small cadre of the descendents of the elites have retained the ancient knowledge. They haven't let it out to the world, but there are many who through study and dedication have dug up evidence and surmised the truth. There are others who have done so through spiritual paths. There is a spiritual awakening happening, but these elitists don't want this awakening to take place. They don't want this humanoid race to evolve. How can they stop it? They have their media manipulations and consumerism and materialism to help them achieve this, but that is not enough. They must come up with a far more subtle and insidious method to keep the humanoids, who they consider cattle, in check. They look to chemical warfare.

They have discovered that the humanoids have a mechanism that, when activated, can help them communicate with the spiritual realm. We'll call this mechanism the pineal gland. Because ancient wisdom was lost to the masses, most of the humanoids had not been taught how to use this mechanism, but more and more were rediscovering this lost knowledge. The evil ones have to prevent too many of the humanoids from regaining this knowledge. When they discover that a chemical widely used in rat poisons can inhibit the function of the pineal gland, they decide to introduce this chemical into municipal water supplies. They sell putting rat poison into the water system by hiring a propagandist who makes the claim that small amounts of the stuff is good for teeth and therefore is good for the public health. We'll call this substance fluoride.

The ploy works and the public buys it. They actually start to demand that their local government poison their water. The propaganda takes hold until it becomes an accepted truth and anyone who says differently is labeled crazy. The fluoride even has other effects on the humanoids that are helpful to the evil elite who secretly rule the planet. For instance, the same substance was used in the death camps of a very evil, fallen empire to keep the prisoners docile.

It is up to those who are aware to continue to spread the truth even though they are ridiculed along the way. They keep speaking out and presenting their evidence everywhere they can, especially in places where freedom of speech is begrudgingly accepted by the powers that be. More and more people begin to believe them and eventually a movement builds to have the local governments stop poisoning the water. In the end, the voices of many become overwhelming and the powers that be are forced to stop adding the poison to the water. With that many start to heal and the function of the pineal gland is returned to those who care to use it. Now the spirits of the humanoids can evolve. Now they can start to rebuild the ancient, peaceful, prosperous society they had long forgotten.

I don't think that's a bad storyline. I think I could make an interesting novel out of it. Of course, this is just a fictionalized story. Nothing like that could ever happen in real life. In real life our political figures are only interested in the best for everyone concerned and would never allow moneyed interests to influence their decisions, especially when it comes to public health issues. You should just believe whatever it is government tells you and not worry your little head over such matters. You shouldn't question authority. You shouldn't do any research on your own or deeply look into any of these matters for yourself. You shouldn't worry about where authoritative organizations originally gained their funding. Just trust what they tell you. After all, aren't they so much smarter and more powerful than you? Of course they know what's best for you even better than you do. Isn't real life wonderful? It's so much better than fantasy.

USA - Cavities a big problem with kids

August 1, 2012 -- More than one-fourth of children between ages two and five suffer from tooth decay in the U.S.
Half of kids between ages 12 and 15 have it. The problem has become so bad that many kids need surgery to have their numerous cavities filled.
How can you stop the problem with your kids?
Story: 1 in 5 Americans has untreated cavities
Story: Local dentists react to lowering fluoride in water
Five-year-old Audrey Baright brushes her teeth twice a day and flosses regularly. So her parents were shocked at her last dental appointment
"(They said) hey, your child has eight cavities," Herbert Baright, Audrey's dad, told Ivanhoe.
Because there were so many, Audrey had to undergo general anesthesia to have them filled. Duke pediatric dentist Martha Ann Keels says it's a scenario that's becoming much more common.
"Every new patient is coming in with a mouth full of cavities," Martha Ann Keels, DDS, Ph.D., Pediatric dentist at Duke University Medical Center told Ivanhoe.
Using anesthesia while filling them could cause vomiting, nausea, and in rare cases, brain trauma or death. The cost can range from $2000 to $5000.

Ireland - Problems with fluoride

Problems with fluoride
Sir, – The Irish Expert Body (IEB) on water fluoridation bases its current policy on presumptions of safety at public water levels of 0.6-0.8 milligrams/litre. This perception fails to account for the fact that a lifelong ingestion of public fluoridated water, in addition to it’s ubiquitous presence in widely consumed commercial foods, like beverages, teas, ice-creams and soy products, may give rise to levels that exceed optimum safety, and thereby raise the risk of toxic effects involving skeletal structures, thyroid tissue, reproductive organs and neurological systems in adults and children.

The US Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry lists fluoride as among the top 20 of 275 substances that pose the most significant threat to human health, a statement that raises serious questions about current assertions regarding fluoride safety and overall health benefits.

The recently published Harvard study has prompted researchers to concede the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposure on children’s neuro-development.

The IEB is now challenged to refute these findings and their implications for the future health of Irish children.
