NORTHSIDE man has vowed to make the Government pay at election time after holding a protest against the water charges and property tax outside his home.
Kevin O’Hare’s peaceful protest took place at Elm Mount Lawn, Beaumont, last week, when he was served notice that a water meter was to be installed at the home he has lived in since 1984.
“I had absolutely no problem with the workers installing the meters as they were only doing their job,” Mr O’Hare told Northside People.
“I have no problem paying taxes either as long as it’s done in a fair manner but this isn’t. You can’t tax your way out of a recession and the austerity measures are not working.
“There will be a payback at the local elections next year and in the next general election.
“It’s bye bye Fine Gael and Labour in the next election. I believe both parties will go the same way as the Greens and the PDs.
“I’d like to see a general election called now. If Enda Kenny believes he has the voice of the people, he should call one.”
Mr O’Hare, who was part of the campaign against the property tax, said he refused to pay his tax for 2013, which amounted to e220 for six months.
“I didn’t pay it but I got a letter from Revenue stating that they were taking it at source from my income. It will be e440 for 2014. Revenue will have to take that at source as well.”
Meanwhile, Mr O’Hare said he also has issues with fluoride in the water system and it is something he is totally against.
